Wahgunyah Speedway hosts the Victorian Speedway Council (VSC) Standard Saloons State Title for the first time this weekend, with Howie eager to keep hold of his maiden state crown which he claimed at Alexandra last season.
As defending champion, Howie automatically qualifies for Sunday night’s final on his home track, but knows it won’t be easy to win.
“We’ve done a couple of races at Wahgunyah and got a fourth and a win and we also had a win at Mount Beauty, but other than that we’ve just been getting the car ready,” Howie said.
“I’m confident in the car and my driving, you just need a lot of luck I think.”
The track will also host the Bob Bailey Memorial for production sedans on Saturday and the VSC Sports Sedans Grand Slam on Sunday night.
Racing starts at 11am Saturday and 3pm Sunday.
