Reigning WDCA premiers Beechworth roar into home final with outright

Outright victory in the last round has earned Beechworth a home semi-final.

The Wanderers sat third heading into the fixture against the winless Ovens Valley United, but took the required 20 wickets to jump ahead of Rovers United-Bruck and finish second.

Beechworth made 154 in reply to Ovens Valley’s first innings total of 88, before bowling them out for 71 and knocking over the six runs required for a comprehensive win.

A big salute for Yarrawonga-Mulwala (208) against Benalla (72) sealed the minor premiership.

City Colts (7-227) fell 11 runs short of Greta (7-238), but still finished fourth, while Wangaratta (7-208) scored its first win of the season against Delatite (89).
