Seeley will relocate to 23 Moloney Drive and plans to be operating from an existing warehouse on the site formerly owned by Joss Construction later this year.
When a new factory is built, Seeley hopes to be operating at full capacity before the end of 2019.
The new site was purchased for an undisclosed price with Seeley’s existing workforce facing a shorter a travel time than a previously mooted move to the Wodonga Council-owned Logic industrial hub.
The 4.7-hectare site will be used to build a 12,000-square-metre factory which will replace a much smaller facility near Albury Airport.
“This exciting new facility is a significant strategic milestone for Seeley International, providing an ideal base for our current and future growth,” managing director Jon Seeley said.
“It also enables us to maintain a strong employer presence within the local community as we continue to invest in our loyal, local workforce, with projected direct employment growth of around 60 per cent in the next five years.
“At a time when many other Australian manufacturers are closing their doors, downsizing or looking to move off-shore, we are pleased to be able to strengthen our local commitment.”
Wodonga Council chief executive Patience Harrington confirmed Seeley had looked at shifting to Logic and other sites in the city, but gas supply was a consideration in the final decision.
“This is a key priority for Logic’s continued growth and the council is continuing to work with the Victorian government to secure a gas gate at the site,” she said.
