Tom McLean, 23, appeared in Wodonga Magistrates Court via video link from jail on Wednesday, where he confirmed he would plead guilty to assault offences.
“I’ve been wanting to plead since the beginning,” he told the magistrate.
Tom McLean’s role involved threatening the man with a tyre iron.
His case was adjourned until April 4.
McLean was given the opportunity to talk to his father over the video link in court, but kept his head down when his father said hello.
He later told the magistrate he could see and hear the courtroom clearly and did have the chance to talk to his family.
