Featuring childhood favourites Albert the Pudding, koala Bunyip Bluegum, sailor Bill Barnacle, penguin Sam Sawnoff as well as the mischievous Puddin’-thieves Possum and Watkin Wombat, see this adored piece of Australian children’s literature come to life on stage.
The Australian bush setting, playful costumes and charming melodies are sure to delight the whole family.
A talented young cast of singers and the Victorian Opera Chamber Orchestra are joined by community chorus of local children and adults.
Following on from the world premiere production The Snow Queen, Remembrance, and The Pied Piper, Victorian Opera is delighted to return to Albury-Wodonga with another community opera.

“2018 marks the centenary of this Australian classic and Victorian Opera’s production The Magic Pudding – The Opera is the perfect way to celebrate.
“We’re thrilled to present a season at The Cube Wodonga,” said Richard.
“Re-imagined for the stage by Anna Goldsworthy and Calvin Bowman, this medium admirably suits the zany improbabilities of the story.
“Calvin is one of Australia’s most talented composers, he really is an expert at setting text. Anna is a marvellous writer and a very fine pianist.
“They worked brilliantly together to create this opera.
“The Magic Pudding – The Opera marked my inaugural commission as the artistic director of Victorian Opera and it’s a joy to see it return to the stage.”
It was adapted into an animated feature-length film in 2000, with characters voiced by Sam Neill, Hugo Weaving and John Cleese.
