The home team won 74-55 with imports Emilee Harmon (22 points) and Kristi Mokube (16 points and 15 rebounds) playing their part.
“For us to not play as well as I think we could, yet still get a win is really significant,” coach Jim Wilson said.
“I think it was the contribution from everyone. At the start of the game Emilee Harmon played extremely well, scoring-wise, but during the third quarter it was Molly Rice with the experience who knocked down a couple of shots, a couple of defensive plays that probably turned it around.”
The Lady Bandits also had a number of other strong contributors, including guard Emma Mahady (11 points).
The club won four games last season, its best result in five years.
The Lady Bandits will now travel for a double-header with Sydney Uni and Melbourne.
