Jacqui Hawkins on Monday issued a media alert for a statement to be revealed on Tuesday morning at Wodonga’s Junction Place.
“Ms Hawkins will be making an announcement about the 2018 Victorian election in November and the electorate of Benambra,” it stated.
Ms Hawkins declined to confirm she would be announcing her candidature for the seat, held by the Liberal Party, when contacted by The Border Mail.
The National Rural Women’s Coalition communications advisor worked for Ms McGowan as an electorate officer – assistant policy advisor – for less than 12 months in 2016.

In 2015, Ms Hawkins raised $10,500 for Albury Wodonga Health by undertaking a 1000-kilometre charity bike ride across the North East and Riverina.
Benambra has been held by former policeman Bill Tilley since 2006 and he has a margin of 9.7 per cent.
