His wife Erica has taken up a teaching appointment outside Beijing. The pair fly out with daughter Vivienne, at the end of April to begin the two year posting.
Livy is excited by the opportunity for his wife and daughter as well as his music.
“I can do music anywhere in the world,” he says.
“I’ll keep doing what I’m doing and maybe just grow a bigger and wider audience. They love the old school country.”
He expected to return to Australia for shows while based in China and the hoped the move would be beneficial for his music, as well as Erica’s career in education.
“For Erica as a school teacher, here’s a great opportunity to grow, and for our daughter to grow up in another culture is a wonderful thing,” Livy said.
“I don't think much will change for me. If anything this will give me the opportunity to slow down and focus a little bit more on the music.”
The move also comes as Livy’s new single, an emotional tribute to Australian was veterans, raced up the country music singles charts.
Livy will perform a farewell show at the Gerogery Hotel on Sunday, April 22, from 2pm.
“I’ll set the PA up one last time and sing a few tunes. If anyone wants to come and have a drink and say goodbye come on out,” he said.
