“Last year over 1000 Australians lost their lives as a result of the various flu strains,” she said.
“Those aged over 65, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and other vulnerable groups have access to a free flu vaccination in order to mitigate some of those potential deaths.
“It’s very quick, absolutely painless and I’ll be able to head into winter with the best protection available.”
Pharmacy Guild of Australia Victorian president Anthony Tassone said it was crucial people received the 2018 vaccine, as strains changed.
“You can’t get the flu from the vaccine – that’s a myth – it can cause side effects, but getting the flu is far worse,” he said.
