City has just three points from four games, with one-goal losses to Myrtleford, Wangaratta and Boomers.

Changes are expected this weekend in a must-win game against St Pats, and City’s reserves are on top of the ladder with 18 goals to their name and just one against.

Dan Kelly also transferred back to the club from Wangaratta this week, with his partner Sarah Morris a chance to line-up for City’s senior ladies.

Goals at senior level have been a struggle for City early doors, having found the back of the net only six times, which could open the door for a proven goal-scorer like Kelly.

“With the personnel I’ve got, it’s hard to bring him straight back in, even in the twos,” Maw said.

“Last year he played predominantly in twos and got 30 and the year before that he got 20 for me in seniors.

“To be honest, if I had him against Boomers on the weekend with some of the corners that were put into the box, I think Dan would have got one of them.”

In the remaining men’s games, Boomers will aim to continue its unbeaten start to the season at home to Cobram, Melrose meets Myrtleford, Twin City Wanderers host Albury United, while Albury Hotspurs hit the road to take on Wangaratta.

Wodonga Diamonds have the bye.

In senior women’s, Albury City meets St Pats, Wodonga Diamonds square off with Albury United, while Melrose and Wangaratta have byes.

City women’s coach Robert Brown hasn’t put any pressure on his side to go all the way this season, but is confident they have what it takes.

“I’m lucky in the way that the girls are fairly self-motivated, they’re all competitive and like to play well,” Brown said.

“I haven’t coached for 15 or 16 years, so I’m engaging the leadership group in regards to the team and talking to them about structures.

“I think they’re getting some development themselves out of that additional role and responsibility.”
