The reigning senior women’s league champions escaped with a 2-1 victory against Patties at Jelbart Park on Sunday, backing up from their 4-2 triumph a week earlier.
A Samantha McIntosh brace secured the points for City, with St Pats’ captain Claire Mahoney keeping her side in the contest with a goal in the second half.
Albury United won the round’s other fixture, 5-3, in an entertaining clash with Wodonga Diamonds at La Trobe.
Molly Goldsworthy had her best game since crossing to the Greens, finishing with a double, while Alicia Torcaso, Lisa Cary and Allanah Seary also found the back of the net.
Jacqui Hawkins, Nichola Schubert and Tyler Maiolini all scored for the hosts.
Melrose and Wangaratta had byes.
