But the Hawk admits she would have been equally as content to sit back and watch the match as a neutral observer.
“We were pleased to win, but the game was fantastic,” Evans said.
“It ebbed and flowed and was a really good, quick, clean game.”
Rutherglen led by two goals at three-quarter-time before the visitors lifted through Ellen Cook, Rebecca Cameron and Abbey O’Brien.
Cameron and Emily Browne shared the honours in one of the clashes of the season.
“There are some great players in the league,” Evans said.
“To be able to watch players like Emily, Bec, Haylee Penny, Georgette Meunier, the Tallangatta girls and others is terrific.”
Kiewa-Sandy Creek and Barnawartha are undefeated.
