CCTV footage of Stevenson Street at 4am on April 13 shows three people, believed to be young men aged in their teens or early 20s, light up the devices and throw them at the house.

The first one flies towards the building, but the second hits a tree and bounces back towards the males, before they run away.

Wodonga Detective Sergeant Graeme Simpfendorfer said it was lucky none of the Molotov cocktails took hold after they were thrown.

“Multiple Molotov cocktails have been thrown at this house. It’s only caused minor damage thankfully, but has the risk of setting fire to the house and endangering those who are inside,” he said.

“We believe that these three people were affected by alcohol or just incompetent because they’ve missed the target, they’ve dropped items which we’ve been able to collect. We believe we’ll find out who is responsible, but we’re seeking some assistance from the public.”

​Remnants of the weapons were collected by police for forensic analysis.

Detective Simpfendorfer said Stevenson Street had become a “hot spot” for police, so uniform officers were conducting extra patrols.

“We believe they have targeted that particular house for a reason,” he said.

“An improvised device such as that can ignite and cause damage to property, which is a great concern.”
