However, a Property NSW spokesperson said Melbourne-based Spotless Facility Services had been awarded the contract for the Southern NSW region. Joss Facility Management currently services the Illawarra-South Coast region, as well as Riverina.
The spokesperson said Joss Facility Management would be responsible for maintenance across the North Western Region, which incorporated the former Western NSW contract Joss already held and New England contract region.
The soon to expire New England region maintenance is held by a Kempsey based company.
“All respondents to the maintenance contract underwent a detailed, competitive procurement process which contained a number of criteria aimed at ensuring value for money for taxpayers and improved service levels,” the spokesperson told The Border Mail.
“Joss Facilities Management were successful for maintenance for a large geographic area of the state and won part of this work from other contractors.
“Joss Facilities Management continue to provide the cleaning services under the current terms.”
Joss Group’s building and asset management arm was among 15 businesses requested to submit a detailed proposal for the Whole of Government Facilities Management (Asset Maintenance & Cleaning) Contract, following expressions of interest in December.
The company won the contract to clean Riverina schools in the mid-2000s and in 2011 was awarded the contract to clean schools across western NSW.
Joss Group’s Department of Education Whole of Government Facilities Management Services contracts in the Riverina (combined maintenance and cleaning) Illawarra South Coast (maintenance only) and Western NSW (combined maintenance and cleaning) regions, which started in July 2011, will finish on June 30.
The Border Mail approached Joss Facility Management for comment.
