Indigo Council controversially chose to hand over the service to a private provider this year, before it was forced by 2020 with the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Mayor Jenny O’Connor told last night’s Indigo Council meeting she was pleased the federal government chose a health provider from the North East.
Alpine Health will work with Beechworth Health Service, Yackandandah Health and Indigo North Health to deliver the service.
Councillors also last night endorsed the draft 2018-19 budget, which included an increase in overall operating expenses of 1.6 per cent.
Cr O’Connor encouraged the public to have their say on the budget before it goes back to councillors to finalise.
