Oaklands branch secretary Heather Kerr said they were concerned people aren’t getting the care needed.
“It’s time we acknowledged the enormous impact on the mental wellbeing of so many sufferers and recognised that existing avenues of assistance do not go far enough,” she said.
The branch’s motions calls for NSW CWA to advocate for Medicare benefits to include a rural loading or incentive payments for allied health care professionals in regional areas; and for Medicare to include psychological distress as a mental health criteria for people living with advanced chronic and terminal illnesses.
