WODONGA Amateur Swimming Club’s Zoe Deacon is a national age champion. The young gun produced the swim of her life to win gold in the 100-metre breaststroke at the national titles in Sydney last week. Deacon won the 17-18 years girls race in 1 minute, 10.31 seconds which shattered her personal best time by 2.32 seconds. The performance gave her a qualifying time for state team selection in the Singapore Nationals. Four male and four female athletes from Victoria will compete in Singapore in June. Deacon also picked up a bronze medal for the girls 17-18 200-metre breaststroke following a personal best time of 2:31.36. She took part in the Commonwealth Games selection trials in March.
