The incident occurred in a tough contest during the second quarter, and, as the ball cleared, Monk was left with dislocated fingers.
DMB reserves coach Jimmy McNeil said the side was reduced to one rotation at half-time following a number of injuries early in the game.
“The water boy claims that he threw a water bottle at him after the contest and he's misjudged it, leading to dislocated digits,” McNeil said.
“To the player’s credit, he ran off the field with a smile on his face and requested a cold beer to soothe the pain.”
