The Pies had 11 goalkickers in the 29.21 (195) to 1.4 (10) win.
Stone is enormously respectful of the Bulldogs’ battles, after they lost 23 players over summer, but couldn’t hide his delight.
“It’s definitely the best footy we’ve played this year, our ball movement was unbelievable, we were clean and crisp and our execution was as good as anything I’ve seen this campaign,” he said.
“Our ball movement was as good as that game where we beat ‘Yarra’ in a final (by 76 points).”
Ruckman Zac Leitch was sensational, doubling last year’s goal output with two.
Livewire Joe Richards also had a blinder, while in a promising sign for the home club, high-profile recruits Mitch Jensen and Mat Suckling also featured.
Wodonga’s Trent Williamson played well.
