The victim was assaulted after a crash on Carrolls Road at Rosewhite on Saturday, resulting in a swollen face, bleeding and closed eye.
The two drivers had a dispute and one car ran into the rear of the other about 6.30pm.
A Bright man, 56, who was travelling in the rear vehicle, allegedly assaulted the other driver, aged 21.
Leading Senior Constable Luke Millar said the man had been charged with intentionally causing serious injury.
Further charges may be laid at a later date, he said.
“There was an alleged incident of road rage which resulted in one male being taken to hospital,” he said.
“A 56-year-old Bright man has been interviewed today (Sunday) and is assisting police with enquiries.
“He has been bailed to appear before Wodonga court on July 10.”
The victim was left shaken by the ordeal.
The Bright man’s Ford was badly damaged in the incident and has been seized and examined.
The victim’s vehicle was not damaged.
“The consequences of this incident only reinforces that if there is an incident, ring the police,” Leading Senior Constable Millar said.
“Don’t take matters into your own hands.”
The matter is still being investigated.
“If there are any witnesses that saw two vehicles tailgating, they can contact Yackandandah police,” Leading Senior Constable Millar said.
