Clothing retailer Best & Less opens its doors next Thursday followed soon after by the food court with three new tenants, Ichiban Sushi, Sandwich Chef and Kebab Kings, and seating for 140 people.
Plaza owners, M/Group, is also close to finalising deals with fashion shops soon after the opening of the Mann Central and Woolworths shopping centres in central Wodonga.
Existing plaza retailers were briefed on the new additions including a mobile phone re-charge station by M/Group last night.
Company spokesman James Collis said the refurbishment would create a more workable and flexible space following the departure of one of its biggest tenants, Safeway supermarket.
“We came into Wodonga to activate this amazing community space and introduce new life into an environment that has endured over decades as a community hub,” he said.
“A great deal of work has been done in securing the right tenancies to provide the local community with a great retail experience.
“We believe we have got the mix right and very much look forward to delivering on our promise to create something very special for this tight-knit community.”
Centre manager Cherie Daly said the community response to the changes had been positive.
“This is a massive investment for Wodonga and I think M/Group’s commitment to the community has not been missed on anyone,” she said.
The former Coles building in High Street is still vacant after relocating to Mann Central.
