With no other grade one teams in the region, Commercial automatically progressed, however the grade threes and fours had to win through the Region 11 playoffs hosted by the Commercial Club this week.
Commercial’s grade threes won a thrilling decider against Gundagai, 39-38.
The grade four outfit had a 45-36 triumph against Griffith-Coleambally, before backing it up with a 55-27 result against Batlow to make their way through.
Batlow defeated Griffith 36-35 in the remaining match of the grade.
Meanwhile, Commercial Club also hosted the grade two regional playoff, with Leeton and District eliminating Holbrook, 47-28.
Head of the Riverina Match Committee Sue Thurley was impressed with the standard of bowls throughout the event.
Thurley is also a member of Commercial’s grade three side.
“This year, we just killed it, even at district level in the district championships, Commercial won every event apart from the triples,” she said.
Commercial has been well represented at state level in recent years, with its grade two side qualifying from 2014 to 2017, while the grade four team also made it through in 2014.
The state playoffs will be held from August 8-12 at The Entrance Bowling Club on the Central Coast.
Region 11 is made up of the Riverina, Murrumbidgee and Southern Highlands districts.
