Ethics Centre executive director Simon Longstaff, The Guardian journalist Gabrielle Chan and Australian National University political science emeritus professor John Warhurst will be among the speakers at the Voices for Indi event on June 2 and 3.
They will cover topics including how to run a successful campaign, representation and community engagement, and how the voting system works.
President Denis Ginnivan said V4I wanted to develop a pool of community-based candidates to seek election to local councils and state and federal governments.
“We’ve attracted remarkable presenters, including a leading ethicist, journalist, politicians, academics and others, who will deliver a good mix of knowledge, skills and motivation to our representatives of the future,” he said.
“We need people to represent us who are genuine leaders in their community and who put the needs of the community first, rather than a political party – people that we respect and trust.”
Tickets for the workshop cost $150. More information is available at www.voicesforindi.com.
