Nick Percat finished third in yesterday’s final practice session, while teammate Tim Slade was eighth.
Michael Caruso and Rick Kelly filled the top two spots, with Percat only three hundredths of a second away.
Both BJR drivers pitted for new tyres late in the session and made the most of them by rocketing into the top-ten.
Team boss Brad Jones was happy with their early form.
“With the first session being wet today, it didn’t leave us a lot of time to sort things out,” Jones said.
“We had been struggling with the Freightliner car all day, so it’s nice to see Sladey in the top-ten and Nick’s been pretty much on the pace all day.
“The challenge is to repeat this on Saturday, but it’s always easier when your up there on Friday.”
Percat is beginning to look like fulfilling the potential that has always been there with a consistent start.
