After a tight first half, the visitors cut loose with John Fahey, Mitch Paton and Tim Seymour dominating for the victors.
“They play a fast-paced game and once we adjusted at half-time to play more of a possession game it made it a bit easier,” Midson said.
“I think we had 15 scoring shots in the third quarter.
“I spoke to ‘Bos’ (Craig Bosley) on Saturday night and they are a lot like us last year.
“Walwa has a lot of kids and once you get game time into them they will get better.”
Federal’s reserves also had a big win with a handful of North Albury players, including Clem Smith, making one-off appearances.
Smith kicked three goals and was best afield.
Border-Walwa were best served by Lowan O'Connor and Ben McCarthy.
Cudgewa defeated Corryong by 70 points.
Jake Vinge continued his outstanding form with five goals while Jackson Brown and Sam Mirtschin also helped bring down the reigning premier.
Kyle McNamara worked tirelessly for Corryong.
Undefeated Bullioh cruised to an 81-point win over Tumbarumba.
Aaron Walters, Brandyn Phillips and Kieran Salome knocked up winning possessions for the Bulldogs in another powerful display.
Luke Kirkwood tried hard for the Roos.
