The visitors racked up a 23-point half-time lead, before a scrappy second half resulted in a 38-12 win.
Wagga Waratahs’ win over Griffith means the Steamers are now fifth.
“The set pieces were strong, scrums, lineouts and our backline play were all solid,” coach Paul Musarra said.
“The first half was as good as we’ve played all year.
“The second half turned into a real dogfight and there were a lot of questionable penalties both ways.”
Flanker Charlie McIntosh was outstanding, while fullback James Devlin was perfect with the boot, landing his six attempts, while also controlling the play.
The Steamers now face the top two in Leeton and Waratahs.
“We’ve got tough games ahead, we’ve got to beat teams who are below us on the ladder and we’ve done that,” Musarra said of the side’s strong display.
