Bill Brock, 65, has been sentenced to a total of two years in jail after pleading guilty to three historic charges of committing an incident act with a person under 16 and two charges of indecent assault.
But he was released from custody onto a three-year community corrections order and will have to complete offender behaviour programs, having already served the two years on remand.
One victim was 14 years old in 2007 when Brock cornered her and without warning, put his hand down her top and grabbed her breast.
In her victim impact statement tendered in Wodonga County Court, she said it was hard to find the words to explain how broken she had been left by Brock.
“You took away the simplicity of life that I should've had, you took away my laughter, you took away the best parts of me,” she said.
Judge Bill Stuart described the actions as extraordinary and cavalier.
Another victim was 15 years old when Brock went into her bedroom, put his hand down her T-shirt and grabbed her breast.
“You then looked at her and said, ‘naughty girl’, as if she had done something wrong,” Judge Stuart said.
“This is a good example of the entirely cavalier approach you took to your victims. You could not care less.”
When Brock left, the girl cried alone in her room.
Another 14-year-old girl known to Brock had answered the front door wearing a bikini when he reached out and grabbed her breast, and he also used his finger to point and touch a 17-year-old’s breast while talking about the different areas.
The final victim was the oldest at 23-years-old, but had a disability.
She asked Brock to stop when he touched her with his hands, but he continued and sucked her nipple.
“People are entitled to feel safe in their homes and you caused them not to be, for your own sexual gratification,” Judge Stuart said.
“The danger of being discovered, the danger of complaint being made, immediately or at a short time thereafter, did not deter you at all.
“You went your merry way, wreaking the destruction on these young girls' lives.”
Brock will be registered as a serious sexual offender for life.
“Hopefully, the conclusion of these proceedings will bring some comfort to (the victims),” Judge Stuart said.
Brock had been on bail since May 8, with the condition he stay with a friend in Barnawartha until County Court proceedings were finished.
The Border Mail can now reveal he was acquitted in mid-April of an allegation of rape, following a trial in Shepparton County Court.
