The Greens’ mentor took plenty of positives from his side’s 3-0 loss to league favourites Albury City at the weekend.
“We found a couple of chinks in the armour and I’m sure they found a couple in ours as well,” Cigana said.
“They’ve raised the standard and we just want to get to that standard.
“We’ve got seven players 16 and under, so it was pleasing that they stood up and took the challenge on board.”
Cigana’s side takes on the “unpredictable” Wodonga Diamonds on Sunday.
“If they’re in the right mindset and play the game as the game should be played, they’ll certainly give us a challenge, but I’m expecting to walk away with the three points,” Cigana said.
“If we lose one more game, it almost puts us out of reach from the top, but in saying that, Albury United two years ago were sitting seventh.
“Last year we improved a fair bit and went to third and we want to finish at least in the top-two.”
Brea Quinlivan returns in what will be a full strength Greens line-up.
Diamonds will be without captain Meredith Quick who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ACL injury.
She has surgery in July, while Jacqui Hawkins is also missing with an ankle concern.
“It’s hard to captain from the sidelines, but I just try to get them as pumped up as I can before the game,” Quick said.
“We’re still bringing up younger players who are developing and we haven’t played with the same starting 11 for two games yet.
“We’re ready for a tough one.”
