The classy forward-midfielder is expected to miss at least a month and is in a moonboot to aid recovery.

“They (medical staff) were worried about if there were any fractures, but there’s nothing like that,” a relieved O’Hara said Sunday morning.

“I’ve got enough movement in the ankle that they don’t reckon there’s any torn ligaments, just a really bad strain to the ligaments.

“It’s maybe only a three to four-week injury.”

O’Hara admits he dodged a bullet.

“Yeah, which is good, it is (best-case scenario) from what I thought at the start,” he said.

“I just went to jump for a mark and just landed on it, sideways, and it rolled underneath me.

“Because I haven’t done an ankle, it’s just stretched all the ligaments, they just said I need to be careful, otherwise I’ll just keep rolling it.”

That comment itself will guarantee the Tigers will be ultraconservative with his recovery.

The silky left-footer is pivotal to the Tigers’ hopes of bouncing back from last year’s grand final loss to Wangaratta.

The pair is again favoured to contest the decider and meets in round 12 on June 30.

O’Hara would be extremely doubtful for that game and given Albury then plays the bottom five, the club could realistically nurse him through until August, if needed.

The former Central District premiership player has never been in better form during his five years.

He kicked 24 goals in the first six games and produced a blinder at representative level against Western Region last week.

O’Hara produced a goal of the year contender against Wangaratta in round three, landing a bomb from 45m in driving rain and against a fierce breeze.
