With the Cats under pressure from Wahgunyah and Chiltern to stay in the upper echelon, coach Tracy Way was delighted to come away with the points.
“It was a big game for us,” Way said.
“We have lost a few close ones so it was good to come out on top this time.
“It was a really defensive game.
“The girls finished off strongly which was important as it’s such an even competition.”
Defender Emily Browne and centre Britt Williams turned in strong performances for the victors while Sarah Cardwell and Georgette Meunier rallied hard for Barnawartha.
Tallangatta defeated Chiltern 36-30 with Karina Cameron starring.
Thurgoona defeated Yackandandah, Wodonga Saints were too good for Beechworth, DMB edged out Mitta United and ladder leader KSC accounted for Wahgunyah.
