With the associations having only five first grade teams each, clubs are set to meet in coming weeks to discuss proposals with CAW chairman Michael Erdeljac.
At least two BDCA clubs - Walla and Rand – have expressed a strong interest in linking up with their neighbouring competition.
We will be talking to clubs and presidents and putting something on the table
- Michael Erdeljac
They believe a merger would be beneficial to their juniors as well as providing different competition.
“CAW is looking to incorporate the Brocklesby and Holbrook associations which would come into line with our provincial and district competitions,” Erdeljac said.
“Over the next two to four weeks we will be talking to the associations and club presidents and putting an offer together to bring them under the CAW umbrella.
“With the Centre of Excellence in Wodonga, the upgrades which are going ahead at Lavington and all the funding going into Cricket NSW it will be beneficial to everyone involved.”
Cricket Albury-Wodonga Hume has been touted as a possible name if the associations were to come together.
BDCA and Holbrook officials Dave Williams and Steve Bennett said they were open to discussions.
Walla, Rand, Walbundrie, Burrumbuttock and Brocklesby have first grade teams in the BDCA while Holbrook, Henty, Culcairn, The Rock-Yerong Creek and Osborne compete in the HDCA’s top grade.
Oaklands and Lockhart have second grade sides.
