A GoFundMe page has been launched to benefit Oliver Kemp and his mother Ebony Clark who have been left devastated by the death of Rasta Kemp, 24.
Ms Clark’s cousin Tim Clark said the page which can be found at www.gofundme.com/bv4up-help-ebony-and-oliver was designed to raise money for “little Ollie” to be put in a trust fund.
“There’s not really much you can do in a situation like this and this is one thing to help,” Mr Clark said.
The page was the brainchild of Madison Spencer, who said she felt she needed to offer assistance.
“It’s more so for little Oliver, so Ebony doesn’t have to worry about money,” Ms Spencer said.
Benalla mayor Don Firth endorsed giving to the fund.
“I would encourage anybody that can to make a donation because it sounds like a horrible situation for the young family,” Cr Firth said.
He said it was council policy not to donate to such appeals based on the need to be accountable for the use of ratepayers’ money.
Mr Clark had known Mr Kemp for six years, the time of the relationship with his cousin.
“I couldn’t ask for a better friend, he was willing to help anyone, you didn’t have to ask twice he was there when you needed him,” Mr Clark said.
“I had to move house in two days and he came around after work to help.
“He was a great father too, it was like he had done it before.”
Away from his loved ones, Mr Kemp’s passions included motor racing.
He regularly watched events at the Winton Motor Raceway and took great pride in his R33 Nissan Skyline.
Mr Kemp’s funeral will be held at the Winton cemetery from 2pm next Tuesday.
A death notice stated he was a loved son of Maryann Ransley and John Kemp and brother to 13 siblings.
