Now is an ideal time to be doing some basic maintenance.
This is the message from Flower Macklan director Tony Macklan.
“Now is an ideal time to do some basic maintenance – nozzles are a key part of a sprayer so simple test is to put some water in the sprayer, run it at operating speed and check each nozzle with a jug to see it’s putting out the correct litres per minute,” he said.
“It is also worth contemplating more advanced selection of nozzles for your sprayer because there has been advancements in low-drift technology and precision.
“There have also been advances in wearing technology, such as ceramic tips.”
Mr Macklan said it was also worth paying some attention to filters, checking the overall condition and for visible splits and tears.
“It’s also a good idea to do a general check of the machine for general leaks and hoses perishing,” he said.
“Most spray units are fitted with diaphragm pumps so its worth checking the condition of the oil and also for the correct level.”
The Flower Macklan store, in High Street, Wodonga, is set up for sales as well as for services and stocks a large range of components and spare parts.
“With the cost of chemicals, a small amount of money spent of maintenance now could result in big savings on chemical costs,” he said.
