V/Line released its performance figures for May, which revealed 5.9 per cent of the trains had been cancelled.
Punctuality improved for the third consecutive month to reach its highest level in six months, with 69.9 per cent of services arriving at their destination on time compared to 67.7 per cent in April.
But the line was still the second most unreliable in the state, only behind Bairnsdale where just 27.4 per cent of trains ran on time.
V/Line acting chief executive Carol-Anne Nelson said latest results were a step in the right direction.
“V/Line has looked further into performance on the Albury line, focusing on the main causes of delays, cancellations and train faults which found that temporary speed restrictions in place due to the track condition were the leading cause,” she said.
