Albury Wodonga Theatre Company will present Cats, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, in October.
The news came via Facebook at 6pm Sunday, the day after Xanadu Jr ended a successful season at Albury Entertainment Centre.
Staged by the company’s junior arm, BYTE Sized Productions, Xanadu Jr featured familiar songs amid 1980s mockery.
AWTCo president Joseph Thomsen said the company “couldn’t be prouder” of the young actors and team.
“They’ve just been getting more and more professional each year,” he said.
Thomsen said Cats had a cast of about 30, with auditions scheduled for June 23/24, bookings via the AWTCo website, and rehearsals to start in July.
“It’s a production everybody really loves,” he said.
“There are also a few really good performers around at the moment … so it seemed like a good time to bring all those elements together.
“We’re really excited to see who comes along.”
