Wodonga police are seeking dash-cam footage after a man in his 30s sustained multiple jaw fractures and broken teeth after being assaulted.
Leading Senior Constable Andrew Naldrett said the victim, driving a white Toyota Corolla, was involved in a near-miss just before 8.20pm with a grey vehicle described as a Holden Astra or Ford Focus bearing partial NSW registration similar to CA19.
“Further south along Watson Street close to the entrance to the Wodonga Plaza car park these two vehicles stopped and a male in his 30s was seriously assaulted,” he said.
“He was later taken by ambulance to hospital.
“Police are appealing for any person that may have witnessed the assault or for any drivers in the area at the time that may have dash-cam footage of the incident to contact police at Wodonga or Crime stoppers.”
A 47-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were at a unit block on Kaitlers Road, where they had a brief conversation with an unknown man who was standing next to a grey Ford Falcon parked outside.
NSW Police said in a statement that after leaving in a Holden Commodore, the victims noticed two men run from the units and get into the Falcon.
“The two men then left the unit block in a Holden Commodore, and while doing so observed two further males run from the rear of the unit block into the Ford Falcon,” the statement read.
“This car then began to follow the victims at high speed.
“While being chased by the car on Hague Street, Lavington, a number of shots were fired in the direction of the Commodore.
“Eventually the victims lost the pursuing offenders in the North Albury area, at which time they noticed damage consistent with a shotgun shell to the rear bumper of the Commodore. One tyre was also deflated.”
A Hague Street resident said of the incident, there was a history of police attendance on Kaitlers Road.
“Obviously up there (Kaitlers Road) they’re into whatever they're into, someone's gotten upset and someone has gotten too extreme about it,” he said.
“If you put a speed camera in you'd have plenty of stories to write about – they go crazy."
