Derby County senior academy goalkeeping mentor Jason Pearcey ran a number of sessions to assist players’ development.
Pearcey played professionally for 16 years before injury prevented him going further, so he turned to coaching, with his primary role to prepare and develop goalkeepers in readiness for the first team.
Pearcey conducted a session with goalkeepers ranging from under 12s to senior women from Albury City, Albury Hotspurs, Twin City and Albury United, followed by another group of under 16s to division one men from Albury City, Cobram, Murray United and Tolland.
Premier Football Tuition has been conducting goalkeeper-specific training on the Border since 2012, with six professional international coaches visiting the region in that time.
An opportunity was also provided to four local teenage goalkeepers to undertake a 21-day development tour of England and Spain.
The goalkeepers trained at and visited clubs such as Huddersfield Town, Derby County, Stoke City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Malaga and Real Madrid.
