Wodonga Amateur Swimming Club will host a come and try evening on Friday to emphasise these points.
Aimed at children, families and any adults wishing to return to the pool, the session will be held between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre, normal pool prices apply.
Club committee member Lisa-Jane Dudenas said senior swimmers and coaches would run some pool games, with pizza available for a gold coin donation from 6.30pm.
“It’s open to anyone, we have a real cross-section of ages and abilities and it’s not just about being competitive and racing every weekend,” she said.
“It’s all about learning some skills that will save you in the pool, but have a bit of fun at the same time.”
Wodonga Amateur Swimming Club, which uses Wodonga WAVES in the warmer months, is about to start its short course winter competitions.
But Mrs Dudenas said any new members could simply enjoy the health benefits of swimming, the club camaraderie “and compete as much or as little as they want”.
