The 23-year-old will join his sister Lucy and cousin Abbott for a three-Test series against Zambia.
The African nation finished runner-up to South Africa in last year’s World Cup, with the Australian team coming third.
“The reason we’re going over there is the World Cup’s next year in Queensland and we’re using this as a dress rehearsal,” Grills said.
“We’ll try and get two more Test series in before the World Cup.”
Grills has long combined his two sporting passions.
“Footy training is obviously normal Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I try and make those sessions each week,” he said.
“I’m pretty set up with the polocrosse at home because our family runs a horse breeding stud.
“I pretty much work about 20 horses in the morning and then head to work and go to footy training at night.”
As well as his work on the farm, Grills also sells polocrosse equipment and works as a personal trainer.
“Playing with the boys every week is great, around town locally, but obviously with polocrosse you get to travel,” he said.
“You get the opportunity to go to Zambia, South Africa, New Zealand and England.”
Grills has played eight of the 10 rounds in the Ovens and Murray this year.
“I’ve actually been pretty happy this year, I’ve had a few injuries the last few years,” he said.
“With (co-coach) ‘Shauny’ (Shaun Daly) and (co-coach) ‘Hydey’ (Chris Hyde) back coaching, it’s just been a really enjoyable year and I’ve just been relaxed about my footy.”
Grills will miss Saturday’s clash against Yarrawonga at Albury Sportsground and the crackerjack grand final re-match against Wangaratta at Norm Minns Oval.
He’ll be available for the home match against North Albury on July 14, following the representative bye.
Grills joined Albury from Hume league club Holbrook in 2014 after being chased by a handful of Ovens and Murray clubs.
He previously played for the Murray Bushrangers and NSW-ACT Rams.
