Wodonga Senior Sergeant Chris Parr said police attempted to intercept a car in Belgrade Avenue with the four men inside when it rammed the police vehicle around 4pm.
The Ford sedan with NSW number plates rammed the van on the rear drivers’ side with the four men arrested at the scene and taken back to the Wodonga station.
Senior Sergeant Parr wouldn't comment on what was found in the car, but confirmed it would form part of the police investigation.
“They are local people and transient between Wodonga and Albury,” Senior Sergeant Parr said.
“Three of them were arrested at a Wodonga address and one was arrested at the car.
“They will be facing serious offences.”
He also confirmed the car, which rammed the police vehicle, had “false plates” and attempts were being made to contact the owner.
