Household tensions between Wangaratta man Mathew John Kershaw, 25, and his brother had been simmering for some time before exploding on March 14.
Kershaw had been travelling with his brother and his brother’s partner in central Wangaratta when they had a argument about chores.
He got out of the vehicle and walked home and pulled a knife on him during a fight back at the property.
Wangaratta Magistrates Court heard the 25-year-old made threats to kill and tried to stab his brother multiple times while chasing him with the weapon.
Magistrate Stella Stuthridge said such behaviour was “actually very dangerous” and labelled his actions “unacceptable”.
She fined Kershaw $350.
