Ovens Valley MP Tim McCurdy was at Apex Reserve before the Roar’s clash against St Pats last Sunday to officially announce the club would receive $650,000 to build new club rooms if he is elected.
A $1.3 million project including club rooms, with a function room and men’s and women’s change rooms is the end goal.
“Cobram soccer has been formed for 60 years and never had a place to call their own,” McCurdy said.
The precinct would allow the club to be able to play practice matches much earlier in the season, which it can not do now as it shares Apex Reserve with Cobram Cricket Club in summer.
The Cobram Junior Soccer Association will also be able to use the facility even though it is not aligned with the Roar.
Moira Shire Council Mayor has also pledged to offer financial support to the project.
