The Alpine Shire Council has is seeking input into plans for more spaces in the town centre, increased one hour and 15 minute zones and improved layouts for off-street parking.
Mayor Ron Janas said while parking was “manageable” most days, regular influxes of people for events caused issues.
“This has come about because people are concerned that there aren’t sufficient parking spaces in the town, particularly during those busy times,” he said.
“We’re looking at making efficiencies there.
“Our aim is not to be punitive about this.
“It’s about people doing the right thing.”
Cr Janas said overflow car parks were needed for major events, and transport needed to be provided from those car parks to the events.
A public information centre will be held from 4pm to 6.30pm on Wednesday at the council chambers on Churchill Avenue.
