Despite going into the match sore after playing for West Broken Hill the previous week, Akermanis kicked four goals for the Hawks.
He was given a licence to “roam” by North Wangaratta and, despite receiving some attention from the opposition, proved pivotal with teammate Mark Scholte.
Scholte kicked seven majors.
North Wangaratta secured Akermanis after club representatives appeared on The Footy Show segment “Billy’s Wheel” on Wednesday night.
