CraftAlive Wodonga will offer three days of exhibits, classes, supplies, kits and tools at Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre.
The featured crafts include stamping, card making, scrap booking, hand embroidery, needlework, patchwork, fabric dying, quilting, cake decorating and handmade rocky road.
The presenters include Tallangatta’s Mary Grant, of Little MG Designs, who will help people make felted balls, flowers, brooches and decorated soaps in her felting workshops.
A textiles teacher for nearly 40 years, Mrs Grant said she still enjoyed sharing skills.
“I like working with people who say, ‘I can’t do that’ and then suddenly they find that they can do it and they create some of these incredible things,” she said.
“And that’s a real thrill as a demonstrator, to see someone, you know, the look on their face and just their response to something they’ve created.”
Now in its 28th year, CraftAlive has 18 events scheduled throughout eastern Australia this year, with the Victorian sites including Shepparton, Bendigo, Mildura and Ballarat.
Mrs Grant has taken part in about 30 CraftAlive shows and sets up her stall in Wodonga every year.
“I think it’s a great idea, and the fact it travels around regions is really important,” she said.
“Because some of the areas that we go to don’t have access to craft events like that.”
