A return to Victoria was just what the doctor ordered for Wodonga netballer Jane Cook, who enjoyed a breakout season with Collingwood affiliate Tasmanian Magpies in the recently-completed Australian Netball League.

Brought on board back in May as a training partner after a season in Adelaide, Cook shot 37 of 45 in last Sunday's thrilling one-point grand final win over the Canberra Giants, 54-53.
Her season isn’t over though – she’ll stay training with Collingwood until the end of the Suncorp Super Netball season.
Though admitting it was bittersweet to leave Adelaide, Cook said the move back home was worth it, especially in light of the Magpies first ANl championship.
“It was hard to leave, but it was the right opportunity and winning the grand final topped it off," she said.
“As a player I was able to make some good progression.
“We went into that game with nothing to lose, Tasmania has never made a final, let alone the grand final, so we just gave it everything.”
With a good track record now firmly established at ANL level, Cook has her sights set on making the jump to the next level.
It’ll be tough breaking into Collingwood’s best side thanks to the presence of numerous Australian stars, including the likes of Caitlin Thwaites, but Cook said she’s ready to put in the work.
“Ideally I’d come back as a contracted player, but I’d be happy to be a training partner for Collingwood again and build from there,” she said.
“New coaches and players around me was really refreshing.”
