After heading into the clash with some strong form, the Bushrangers lacked intensity and were shown up badly by their second-placed opponents.
Only inaccurate kicking for goal in tough conditions prevented the home team from winning by more.
Coach Leon Higgins said it was a disappointing performance.
“We started poorly and were never in the game,” Higgins said.
“I thought we had a good patch in the third quarter but that was about it.
“They were a lot cleaner than us.
“I’m not sure if we didn’t handle the trip or what it was.”
Wodonga Raider Dylan Clarke continued his good form with a strong tackling performance in the midfield while Lachie Ash overcame a slow start to play well.
Jye Chalcraft handled the ball well in the slippery conditions.
“They played well but it was difficult to find any more good players,” Higgins said.
“Dylan’s having a good season.
“He was contest for us.
“Lachie got better as the game went on and Jye Chalcraft was really clean with the ball.”
The Bushrangers have this weekend off before taking on Eastern Ranges at Shepparton’s Deakin Reserve on July 22.
They then play matches at Wangaratta’s Norm Minns Oval and Albury.
