Three wins in a row has seen the Albury-Wodonga Spitfires men move to sixth on the Capital League ladder after 13 games.
The Spitfires had a successful double-header at home with two victories against Tuggeranong.
Andrew Monte starred in Saturday’s 4-2 triumph with a brace, while co-coach Jeremy Payne and Oscar Smart also contributed to the end result.
The Border side backed it up with a 2-1 result on Sunday as Josh Verity and Charley Wallace’s goals secured the points.
Payne was pleased with the way his side performed, but knows there’s still areas to improve.
“It could have been a lot higher scoreline for us, we controlled the game and held possession, we just once again struggled to put the goals in,” he said.
“Having three straight wins is a positive going into next week against one of the top-two sides (Old Canberrans) and hopefully we can carry the winning fever through.”
