Two or less goals separated the teams at each change with stand-in coach Justine Goonan admitting the four points were never safe.
“It was very tight,” Goonan said.
Goal shooter Emma Cardwell and goalkeeper Leah Carter were fine contributors for Dederang-Mt Beauty.
Wodonga Saints’ Taylor Morey and Ebony Williams ensured the clash went down to the wire.
Rutherglen were too strong for Beechworth, winning 40-13.
Emily Browne was a strong performer for the fourth-placed Cats while shooter Brittney Deegan proved dangerous with 23 goals.
In this weekend’s matches, Barnawartha meet Wodonga Saints, Beechworth play Wahgunyah, DMB take on Chiltern, Rutherglen do battle with Mitta United, Thurgoona host Tallangatta and Yackandandah host Kiewa-Sandy Creek.
