IT was at the Border Music Camp, at age 15, that Victoria Bihun first realised she might be able to turn her passion for music into a career.
The seed planted then has come to bloom, with the Benalla violinist teaching at the camp in between her work with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, which she has been with since 2015.
“To have something like this to country kids is just totally invaluable,” she said.
“The friends I made here, I still am friends with now.
“It definitely lights that fire and makes you realise you can actually have a career in this.
“Growing up in Benalla, where there are no orchestras, I actually didn’t realise you could do that as a career.”
Hundreds of students from across the region, plus some from capital cities, are honing their craft at this year’s camp.
Almost every orchestral instrument is covered at the camp, as well as a numerous amount of genres.
The camp culminates in two public performances on Friday and Saturday night.
